I wish someone had told me that it is okay to not know where you want to go Half the fun of traveling long term is not really knowing where you are going next! I always tell people I plan the bones of a trip, which means I have a general outline of where I want to go. I have an idea in my head of the places I want to see, and from there I fill in the gaps when I am on the road. I usually plan the continent or pick out countries that I want to go to, then I go with the flow.
